It is with great pride that I step forward as a Candidate in the November 7, 2006 General Election for:

Texas House of Representatives District 126

As your State Representative, I will utilize my experience in business and community leadership as a strong advocate for our Public Schools, Health Care, Public Safety, and the Environment.

It is time for a change in our current legislative leadership. I provide an alternative to voters by offering them a candidate who will make improving Education, Health Care, and the Environment his top priorities.

Many current members of the Texas Legislature are out-of-touch with the real priorities of the citizens of District 126 and the state of Texas . Focused on Criminal Grand Jury investigations and other distractions from big business and lobbyists, they have lost sight of what parents, children, teachers, and taxpayers want…..Quality Public Education for our children. Our public school system in Texas fails to meet the minimum standards required by the state constitution, yet children in every school are required to pass the same required academic assessments. Despite Special legislative sessions, the current Legislature has failed to come up with viable solutions to the problems facing our state’s education system.

The family values with which I was raised -- education and hard work -- have played an important role throughout my life. I worked during the day and attended college at night, graduating with a degree in Business Commerce from the University of Karachi in 1983. I later came to America , working in the travel industry and with the major airlines. In 1987 I opened my own travel business, and with the help of my wife of eighteen years, we have built one of the most successful travel businesses in Texas . In 1997 we diversified our business into Real Estate investment. Our business has continued to grow as we develop new projects including shopping centers, apartment complexes, land, and commercial development.

I have been an American citizen since 1993, and am now the proud father of four-year-old twin daughters. I love this country, its people, and, especially, the founding principles which have allowed me the opportunity to become a walking manifestation of the American dream.

I am an active member of the community and have served in several positions of community leadership. These include Homeowners’ Association President, Harris County Municipal Utility District Board President, Emergency Medical Services Board Treasurer, and Graduate of the Sheriff’s Citizen Policy Academy . With the Democratic Party I have served as Precinct Chair, Election Judge, and Delegate to the Democratic State Convention. My Democratic involvement also includes membership in the 1960 Area Democrats, Harris County Tejano Democrats, and the Houston Black American Democrats.

I want to work to build a state in which all of our children can receive the education and health care they need and live in a safe and healthy environment
